Ultra Fog has successfully conducted and completed
full-scale fire tests in accordance with EN 14972-17 – Test protocol for
residential occupancies for automatic nozzle systems.
This achievement is an important step in ensuring our
solutions align with the latest European and UK regulatory framework for water
mist systems.
As part of the testing programme, we successfully tested
ceiling-mounted, wall-mounted (sidewall) and our NEW Concealed Nozzles, all
passing with reliable suppression performance in rooms up to 5.5 m high
(approved for ceilings from 2.5 to 5.5 m).
The BS EN 14972-17:2025 (EN 14972-17) standard has been introduced as
part of a broader European effort to harmonise testing protocols for water mist
fire suppression systems. It replaces the previous BS 8458 standard, which was
withdrawn in July 2025.
While the new protocol is largely aligned with the fire test
methodology previously defined in BS 8458, it introduces several updates. One
important development is the possibility to conduct fire testing for sidewall
water mist nozzles, which previously could not be tested within the earlier
standard.
